I want to run the following promotion: Buy one at full prices and get a second product of the same or lesser value at 50% off. I can’t seem to find a way to ensure the discount is taken on the product of equal or lesser value.
I also want to run another promotion: Buy one at full prices and get a second product of the same or lesser value at 50% off. I can’t seem to find a way to ensure the discount is taken on the product of equal or lesser value + if you spend $100, you get a free gift. I don’t see a way to stack promotions.
Would love to do this in the Shopify app, but we also use Ultimate Offers.
Welcome to the Shopify Community! First off, it is not possible to stack discounts through the Shopify Admin. This is listed on our Discount codes FAQ page. Further, it is not possible to set up the type of discount you’ve described here through the Shopify admin, so in order to get both of these features, you’ll require the use of an app!
I did some digging to see if I could find an app that offers the feature you’re after, regarding offering the discount on items that are worth equal or lesser value, but I haven’t found anything conclusive. My best suggestion would be to start reaching out to some of the app developers to inquire about this feature. You can find an apps contact information by going to the app description page, and looking for the Support section on the right hand side of the description page. I’d recommend reaching out via phone or email, and asking the developers if there apps are capable of setting up this discount. This would save you the time of installing each app as a trial, and testing it out yourself. Some apps that I’d look into are:

I would be happy to look at your solution if you could confirm that I can set up a BOGO where the % off is taken on the product of equal or lesser value.
If you set up a “Buy X-Get Y” discount and put the same product/collection in the fields, the system will automatically add the discount to the lesser value item. I have it working on my store.
This is just yet another way they make us buy APPS. Im getting tired of everytime I turn around for a common sense issue they make us buy an app or upgrade.
