Hi there,
I want to set up a click and collect option for my Shopify shop. My issue is that I have 4 physical shops (where the customer can come to collect their purchase) with no stock listed ever in these locations and I have one warehouse where all of the stock is stored and listed.
Can I offer click and collect to a location that has no stock - Eg: All the stock will be at the warehouse.
I need to make sure customers can place their orders to the click and collect locations with no stock and that those processed orders can be sent to the warehouse so the warehouse can get the products and dispatch them to the click and collect location.
I don’t want to have to transfer inventory for this.
Is there a process or an app that could help me manage this?
Hi @furniture3 ,
Klaudia here from the Zapiet team! I’m excited to share with you that our app Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery is able to do what you’ve described, and that many merchants have already configured their store this way.
In our app is where you’ll be able to configure your pickup locations. Customers will easily be able to choose their pickup location from our widget that appears on the cart page, and you’ll be able to manage orders for all of your pickup locations using our app’s dashboard.
In terms of inventory, you just need to configure one Shopify location— all stock will be automatically deducted from the Warehouse.
To give you a better idea about how our app works, I’d highly recommend taking a look at our Demo Store and also trying it out on our free 30-day trial. I suggest setting up the app and widget on a duplicate theme, so that you can test everything beforehand before going live!
Please let me know if you have any questions, I’m happy to help!

Hi @furniture3
are you talking about Shopify’s option called local pickup? which presents customers with self-pickup options based on the following:
-
the distance from the customer and
-
the stock available in the store.
I guess the problem is with the second factor because you want to avoid delivering the self-pickup orders based on the store’s inventory but ship from a central warehouse, so you can’t use Shopify’s local pickup. So, therefore, the solution is:
-
You can add the locations of the stores as shipping methods, and then the customers can choose them at checkout, even without stock and without the Shopify local pickup feature (which depends on supply). This way, it will be presented to the client, but it also loses the first issue of giving only points close to the customer.
-
If you want to offer these options depending on the customer’s distance from them (like the local pickup feature), then that’s exactly what our app- Mapit does. Apart from that, it is also important to note that Shopify’s local pickup does something else - it also pops up an alert to the store that it is asked to mark when the shipment is ready for pickup. Then a message is sent to the customer who will come to pick it up. Suppose you don’t use the local pickup feature and still want these capabilities. In that case, that’s precisely why we developed a complete click-and-collect system (accurately and more comprehensively) that meets all of this and does other amazing things.
