How can I set up fixed zone shipping for large crates?

We ship large crates of several hundred pounds. Currently, we have a fixed shipping rate for Continental US. We would like to consider a fixed shipping rate by zone (3 zones total). Is that possible?

If so, how do we do that?

Hi @adriennew .,

Yes, it is possible to set up a fixed shipping rate by zone in Shopify. Shopify provides various shipping options and allows you to define shipping rates based on different criteria, including zones.

Here’s how you can set up a fixed shipping rate by zone in Shopify:

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin dashboard.
  2. From the sidebar, go to “Settings” and then click on “Shipping and Delivery.”
  3. In the “Shipping and delivery” section, scroll down to the “Shipping zones” section.
  4. Click on “Add shipping zone” to create a new zone. Repeat this step to create all three zones you require.
  5. Give each zone a name that represents the region it corresponds to. For example, “Zone 1: East Coast,” “Zone 2: West Coast,” “Zone 3: Central.”
  6. Once you’ve created the zones, click on the name of the first zone to configure its shipping rates.
  7. In the “Add shipping rate” section, click on “Add rate.”

Follow the same process for the other zones, setting up their respective rates and weight ranges. Once you’ve set up the shipping rates by zone, Shopify will automatically calculate the appropriate shipping rate based on the customer’s shipping address and the weight of the items in the cart. During the checkout process, the customer will see the applicable shipping rate based on their zone.

Thank you.

I am trying to do this without success. I have a zone for the lower 48 & DC and I want another for everything else (rate by order total). First, when I get to step 4 the wording is a little different. I see “Create zone” and no “Add shipping zone.” Hopefully, I am in the right place. When I go into the pop-up titled “Create new shipping zone”, the United States is grayed out and it says, “In another zone.” I cannot expand it to select the non-selected states of the other zone. I would very much appreciate any help. Thanks.

Hello @BeardedOracle ,

You are not allowed to establish multiple shipping zones for the same Country/State combination.

If you initially chose the United States as the country in a zone, you can uncheck the United States and select the necessary states. This way, you’ll be able to designate the remaining states in a separate zone.

Thank you, Mirdas.

I did get this to work. It was finicky though. I had to do multiple edits before it allowed all the territories to be selected. But I beat it to submission. Thanks, again!
