How can I set up pre-orders for out-of-stock items?

Hello Youmi12!

Go to Shopify admin —-> Click Products.
Click the name of the product you want to make available for pre-order.
Go to Theme Templates section, Change products to product.pre-order.
Click Save

Hi,

You can add a pre-order button without an app or external library. It works with multiple variants too. Check the video for more information.

Hello.

The solution that you do is great. Don’t know why shopify not embed it into standard theme.

However, you can run into trouble with google merchant center. As your item will be reported Available with your default shipping policy. Product status should be preorder or backorder.

On the product page we can use a separate templated what will provide correct ld+json, but i can’t find how to mangle the feed for google integration. Also google will need to set the date available, maybe +30 from today. I can’t see how to make it on the shopify side. On the google end i can write API rules, maybe i can mangle date and time.
