Hello, I am having issues with my payments on shopify. I’ve come to the point where is says “Complete account setup”. When i click this it asks me to put in a company, which I do not have. It gives me these options:
Private/Individual Company
Cooperative (AB)
Private Limited Company (KB)
Nonprofit
Partnership (HB)
I am just trying to do dropshipping from shopify without having a company. How do I fix payments without having a company? Or am I supposed to choose one of these options?
It is impossible to accept payments without being a registered company, no matter if it’s based in the US or in Sweden. It’s nice that you’re trying to do dropshipping, and this has been a useful business model for many Shopify merchants, but all of them had to register a company for legal and tax reasons.
What you can do, alternatively, is use PayPal for now. However, keep in mind that not offering card payments will lead to a decrease in conversions. Plus, at some point, you must have a company in place to make sure you comply with all rules of your country, and the countries where you’re selling into.
Please, mark this response as “Solved” if I responded to your issue. And sorry I couldn’t do more!
Welcome to Shopify Community. I’d love to clarify your concern regarding the Shopify Payments setup.
The options that @chappy9707 listed in the post are business types. When you set up Shopify Payments, you are required to enter a business type for us to understand the nature of your business. There’s a possibility that the options shared on the post were translated to English using a translation tool, so it may not be the most accurate translation. There’s also a chance that these are specific requirements in Sweden. In most countries, the following business types are the one we require you to choose from:
Individual/sole proprietor
Corporation
LLC
Partnership
Nonprofit
As we can see, they don’t include the word company. Not all of these types require you to register as a company. I recommend exploring each type to determine which best aligns with your business structure.
