There are two ways to put a product on sale, using a discount code (or automatic discount) or setting the price lower than the compare at price to give it the sale badge.
When a customer uses a code, it shows the discount in their order confirmation with the code tag tag and the amount discounted.
However I just noticed that when using the sale by compare at price method, it does not show the order discount in the confirmation email. So it doesn’t show the original price and the mark down price.
Is there a setting to allow this? Or am I missing something..?
Just also to add to this, further investigating this, there is no Shopify report that allows a report on sales based on sale price and compare at price. Anyway this could be implemented?
I’m also looking for an answer to this. We used to run sales using automatic discount coupons, and it was great, the discount was shown in the customer’s order and confirmation email. We have swithced to using compare at price discounts so that we can show the sale badge and vary the discount depending on the product. However there is no no indication of the discount the customer received in the order details or confirmation. We have had a few customers come back to us thinking they didn’t receive a discount.
Hoping Shopify can give us an answer.
In Shopify, showing the original price and the marked-down price in the order confirmation email when using the “compare at price” method requires customization, as this is not a built-in feature. You can consider using an app to show a sale badge and continue to use automatic discount coupons. If you want, I can recommend some apps for you.
