Hi there, Are we able to sort product variants in the bulk editor ie. sort by name, sort by price, ascending/decending etc.
Thanks,
Main issue: Sorting product variant columns (e.g., by name or price, ascending/descending) within Shopify’s bulk editor. The bulk editor is the admin tool for batch editing products/variants.
Current status: Sorting columns in the bulk editor is not supported. A later comment notes that this remains unavailable years on.
Workarounds suggested: Use a third‑party bulk editing app that includes sorting. Alternatively, export products as CSV, sort them in a spreadsheet (e.g., Excel), then re‑import, and make a backup beforehand.
Request for details: A staff member offered to forward the feature request to developers and asked for specific use cases to help prioritize.
Outcome: No built‑in solution or decision to implement was announced. The discussion remains open, with users expressing ongoing need and frustration that this basic functionality is missing.

Hi, @mysticphoenix21 !
Welcome to the Shopify Community! At this time, it is not possible to sort columns in the bulk editor. I understand why this could be important to your store, and how it could make the bulk editor even more functional and efficient. I’d be happy to submit some feedback to our developers on your behalf about this feature. The more feedback we receive the better!
Can you explain a little bit more about what you are trying to achieve through a sort function? A couple workaround options would be to use a bulk editing app from the Shopify App Store that has this feature. Otherwise, you could export your products as a CSV, sort the data as desired in a spreadsheet program like Excel, and then import the adjusted products via CSV import. I’d recommend creating a backup copy of your product data before doing this!
Let me know if you have any further questions.
4 years later, still can’t sort columns lol. basic functionality glossed over.
