How can I subscribe to the search results in the new community?

Topic summary

A user is looking for a way to subscribe to RSS feeds of search results, a feature that existed in the previous version of the Shopify community platform but appears to be missing after a recent update.

Current Status:

  • The RSS feed feature for search results has been removed in the new community platform
  • Standard category RSS feeds are still available (format: category-url.rss)
  • No native replacement has been identified within the platform

Suggested Workarounds:

  • Use third-party RSS monitoring tools like Visualping or Distill.io
  • These tools can monitor search result pages and send alerts when new posts appear
  • This approach can replicate the functionality of the old RSS feed system

Context:
Many community platforms have disabled or hidden RSS functionality in recent redesigns, particularly after 2023. The issue remains unresolved with no official alternative announced.

There was a feature to subscribe RSS feed of search results. How can I do it now? I can’t find the same feature in the new community.

Is this feature removed? Any alternatives?

Hi @jam_chan

I do not know much about RSS feeds but for example in other topic, I replied for a link to category

as that should be correct link based on Finding Discourse RSS feeds - Using Discourse - Discourse Meta

and there is a lot more options there. But for search results I am not sure.

The community update got rid of the default RSS from search results, which I used to read all my mentions. You might also want to consider using other 3rd party RSS tools such as Visualping or Distill. io and monitor search result pages to be automatically alerted of new listings. Instead, these can imitate the old way of having them tell you when a new relevant post appears. Hope this helps!

You’re referring to the RSS feed for search results that was available in some older versions of forums or community platforms (e.g. older versions of Lithium / Khoros, Discourse, or Salesforce Communities). Many of these platforms have disabled or hidden RSS functionality in their newer redesigns, especially after 2023.
