How can I successfully activate PayPal Express Checkout?

For the past week I’ve been trying again and again to integrate the PayPal express checkout into my store but I’m not able to do it. When I click on “Activate PayPal Express Checkout” I get redirected to the PayPal login page, and after I log in I get into my PayPal dashboard. I don’t see a permissions page.

Kindly follow these steps.

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Payments.
  4. Select PayPal Express Checkout within the PayPal module.
  5. Click Activate.
  6. Once directed to a PayPal login page, log in to your PayPal account and click I Give Permission.
  7. Click Back to Shopify.
  8. Under Payment Authorization, select:
    • Automatically capture payments for orders (Immediate Sale).
    • Manually capture payment for orders (Authorize only).
  9. Click Save.

I appreciate the context that you have provided. If you are attempting to connect your PayPal account to your Shopify store to allow your customers to use the gateway when completing their purchase, we will need to setup the PayPal gateway. When you navigate to Settings > Payments > Activate PayPal Express Checkout, make sure to deactivate the current setup to have it reset.

Once it has been deactivated, you can then attempt to select Activate PayPal Express Checkout. You should be directed to the PayPal page that will ask you to login to your PayPal account.

If you happen to not receive a permissions page or “Tell us more about your business” page from PayPal, I would suggest that you clear the cache on your current browser. If the error persists, you can try this action on another browser as for example if you are using Safari, try this action on Google Chrome.
