How can I track transaction deductions on Shopify Balance for tax purposes?

Hello all - hoping I could get some help/insight on a topic I can’t seem to find a solution for. I use Shopify Balance for transactions where the customer does not use PayPal and I’ve noticed that the amount I am credited at the end of the day is less than the price of the item purchased. I’m assuming that this is Shopify taking their 2-3% or so from the transaction, pertaining to the account tier I have with them. This is all fine and to be expected, but I cannot figure out how to find record of this automatic withdrawl that Shopify takes. Obviously they bill me every month but this is not included in those bills, as those only include shipping purchased on the platform and my monthly account fee. I am trying to figure out where I can find a record of all the money Shopify has taken from my transactions so that I can write this off on my taxes, as with my revenue from last year it definitely represents a few thousand dollars.

Basically my point is, my total revenue displays the full price of the items sold but the amount credited to me at the end of each day is a few percentage under that amount, which I can only assume is the cost that Shopify charges per transaction (fixed amount + their percentage) and I’d like to know where I can find totals for this money withheld for tax purposes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello @colefkeller ,

You can try to follow these steps:

  1. Go to your store panel → settings → Billing history → view transactions
  2. In the transaction history, you can see the fees charged by Shopify for each transaction. The fees are listed as “Transaction fees” and include both a fixed amount and a percentage of the sale amount.
  3. You can export this transaction history to a CSV file and use it for your tax purposes.

Once you have accessed the transaction history, you can filter the results by date range and download the data to a CSV file. The CSV file will contain a detailed breakdown of all the transactions during the selected period, including the transaction fees charged by Shopify for each transaction.

Hope this can help you out.
