How can I transfer theme settings between two Shopify stores?

Topic summary

A user wants to transfer theme settings and appearance from one Shopify store to another, both using the free Sense theme, without manually reconfiguring everything.

Recommended Solution:

  • Download/duplicate the theme from the original store
  • Upload the theme file to the second store
  • This transfers most appearance and theme settings between stores

Important Limitations:

  • Some account-specific settings won’t transfer automatically
  • Since Sense is a free theme, no license transfer is needed (paid themes require license transfers through Shopify support)

Alternative Approach:
Manually add the Sense theme to the second store and reconfigure all settings from scratch, though this is more time-consuming.

The discussion provides links to guides for duplicating themes, downloading themes, and uploading theme files to assist with the transfer process.

Hi, @Nisitrade . Thanks for your reply!

To do this you can either add the Sense theme to your other store and set up everything from the beginning, or you can follow the steps I shared to export your theme file from one shop and import that theme file to your other shop. Since you’re using a free theme you won’t need to worry about the theme license, but you’ll still want to follow the steps I shared to download/duplicate your theme and the steps to upoad your theme file to your other store.

Some information won’t transfer over as some settings are account specific. However, this is the best way to get the appearance and theme settings transferred from one store to another.
