My business is custom made models and there are a number of stages involved in my manufacturing process. I want to email customers to let them know when there order moves along a stage but I want to do this better than simply manually emailing customers every time.
I’ve looked at a number of ‘Tracking’ apps but these seem to be more about post-dispatch tracking. I don’t want an app that is more about delivery tracking, I want something that helps keep customers informed about order processing prior to delivery. Most of my parcels are sent 2nd class and don’t come with detailed tracking updates and I don’t want customers to be confused by seeing complex tracking pages with stages that really won’t apply to them. For example, my customers will only ever get a dispatched or a delivery attempt update.
Does anyone know of an easy way or app that does this please?
Hi There,
Well, in this case I think automating the process of sending out the emails will be a better solution. You can check out zapier for automation
What email marketing platform are you using? Most modern ones have a sort of trigger/event-to-email workflow. While you could create attribute and or use event triggers, the simplest way (without too much technical knowhow) would be to create a List or Segment for each notification you want. Let’s say you have these notifications:
We got your order (“Order Received”)
Gathering supplies. (“Start Production”)
Assembling your item. (“Production In Progress”)
Finishing touches. (“Testing and QA”)
Ready to ship. (“Production Complete”)
You set up your List/Segment where any time someone is added to the list, they get the predefined email sent to them. So all you have to do is move the person (or group of people) from one list to the other and it’ll kick off the email to them. If you need help with this, I would recommend reaching out to our favorite ecom experts Le Ventures - Good Luck!
I have just released an app that appears to meet your requirements. You can create your own statuses and have the customer automatically emailed when the order status changes. There is also an order lookup feature - see example below:
