How can we improve our new online clothing store to get our first sale?

Hi Everybody,

We hope you are all well!

We’ve recently opened our store and were wondering if anybody had any advice on cracking our first sale.

Store URL: https://barkerclothingandapparel.com.au/

We are an online-only clothing store. We have Sales channels set up and are currently advertising on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, yet we are only new and still learning the process. We have also strayed away from a standard-looking colour palette, as you’ll probably notice when you see it.

If possible, could we please ask for some information on the matter or for you to look at our store and let us know if there is anywhere we can improve upon to funnel potential customers towards the checkout?

Kind regards,
Barker Team

Thank you for the quick response!

Target Audience is teensagers to middle age… 14 to 40.

You wouldn’t happen to know of a way to start a brand awareness campaign, or where best to advertise? Is it like a normal ad campaign?

We can look it up, just figured we’d ask whilst here.

Thank you for the support,

Barker Team

Welcome @BarkerClothing to Shopify community!

Here are a few suggestions for how to improve your chances of making your first sale:

  1. Make sure your website is easy to navigate and has a clear, professional appearance. This will help create a good impression and encourage potential customers to explore your products.

  2. Optimize your product pages with compelling product descriptions, high-quality images, and relevant keywords to make it easier for customers to find your products in search engines.

  3. Consider offering promotions or discounts to incentivize customers to make a purchase. This could be a discount code for first-time customers, free shipping, or a special bundle offer.

  4. Engage with your potential customers on social media and other platforms where you are advertising. Respond to comments, answer questions, and show off your products in creative ways to create buzz and generate interest.

  5. Consider reaching out to influencers or bloggers in your niche to review or feature your products. This can help introduce your brand to a new audience and increase your visibility.

  6. Review your checkout process to make sure it is smooth and easy for customers to complete their purchases. Remove any unnecessary steps or obstacles that could cause customers to abandon their cart.

Overall, it’s important to focus on providing a great customer experience, creating engaging content, and making your products easy to find and purchase. With a bit of effort and persistence, you should be able to make your first sale!

Hello @BarkerClothing ,

Gina here from flareAI - your Fully Automated Free Sales Machine. Hope you are doing good! I am happy to share some suggestions for your query.

Please consider liking and accepting the solution if it helps.

I’ve taken a look at your store. Nice collection! I’ve some suggestions to increase the conversion rate.

  1. It will look better if you make the theme color a little lighter. Currently, on the dark pink color, the store text content is not easily readable.
  2. Display store’s contact info like phone number, email address, and office address in the Contact Us page.
  3. You can add testimonials on the home page to make the store look more professional. Testimonials allow your satisfied customers to step forward and address the questions and objections that fill the minds of your prospective buyers for you.
  4. Add average ratings for each product
Including both user rating and number of ratings on the products will help users to make decision whether to buy your product or not.
  5. Add sticky header
Adding sticky header allow users to quickly access the navigation, search, and utility-navigation elements without scrolling up to the top of the page. They increase the discoverability of the elements in the header and the chance that users will take advantage of them.
  6. Add Blogging in the store
Blogging is an amazing way to drive traffic to your website and increase your SEO. The more your blog, the more content the search engines have to crawl and index. This means they can easily recognize that your site is a resource of information for people to access.
  7. Add more detailed product description in product pages. The product description should provide visitors with important information about the features and benefits of the product so they are motivated to buy.

Did you know? Ecommerce on Google Search is greater than all paid channels and social media combined. As a Google partner, flareAI will submit your products to Google and other free channels on a daily basis. flareAI will help to scale your site sustainably at NO added Staffing expenses, NO Pay-per-click, NO paid marketplaces. Hi Gina,

Thank you so much for the response, and especially for checking out our store! We will be more than happy trying out what you had to say as soon as possible! Once again thank you sincerely! :sparkling_heart:

Hi @BarkerClothing

My initial impression of your store - the pink is a little too much. I understand you want to move away from the standard colors but then again, this makes reading any text very difficult as the pink really hurts the eye when I tried to browse the pages.

What I can recommend is, when you are driving traffic to your store, do keep an eye out on the reports to see if you are driving any traffic and if yes, which channels are they coming from.

Or if there are visitors arriving on the site, are there any add-to-carts etc. This will give you a good understanding of if you are attracting the right people and if there is any site improvements needed.

I go into much more details in my YouTube videos about cracking the first sale and why a store is not getting any sales.

Hi @BarkerClothing ,

It’s great to see that you’ve made bold choices on your site colors and style. You should be equally bold in your messaging, stating clearly and proudly what your unique selling proposition is. And why people should shop with you. At the moment, your main selling points seem to be the following:

The feeling of gain when they arrive - retail therapy is not a unique selling point for your products. Nor are competitive prices, comfort, and quality with nice designs. You need to find something that only your brand does to distinguish your brand from your competitors. Have a think about what your Unique Selling Proposition is.

Once you have that, make sure it’s somehow included in all your content and forms the basis of your content strategy.
