Hey there, @Online_Seller . Thanks so much for reaching out to the Shopify Community with your Feature Request!
You’ve got a lot of good ideas here, so thanks so much for sharing them with us. It’s feedback like this that helps us continue improving the Shopify Product, and building it into something that all small businesses, and even big businesses, can get a lot of value from.
To comment on your feedback here, Shopify actually does have a pricing plan that you can switch your store to at any time that accomplishes these requests!
The plan I’m talking about is called the Pause and Build Plan. I have a resource here that goes into detail about it. Essentially, the plan allows you to ‘pause’ your store, allowing you to take a break! The main points of the plan are as follows:
- The ‘Pause and Build’ plan is a reduced monthly subscription, costing $9/month while paused.
- The plan turns off your checkout, preventing any customers from being able to place orders.
- Though your ability to make sales will be paused on this plan, you still have full access to the back-end of your shop and your Admin.
- Whenever you’re ready to return from your break, you can switch back to a standard paid subscription and the ability to make sales will be turned on again.
If you combine this plan with turning on your password page for your store, you effectively put your shop on hiatus. This means that when a customer visits your shop, they will only land on your password page, which you can edit within your admin. You can actually edit this page to let customers know you’re currently away on a break, and you can outline on when you’ll be returning.
Some folks don’t know about this plan so I was happy to give you some information about it today! If you feel like this plan doesn’t appropriately help small businesses take breaks, please let me know with some additional feedback.
Are you planning on taking a break away and this is what made you think about this? I know many folks like to switch to this plan to ‘pause’ things while they go to conventions for selling, for example. I’d love to hear more about your business, and see what you’ve built! I may even be able to advise on some actionable feedback to help with things like conversion rate!
Like I mentioned above, if you have additional feedback, questions, or would like some feedback on your shop, feel free to follow up with me here!
