So i have assigned a theme template for my products on the product page , but when i am customising my product page , it says none of the products are assigned to any theme templates
Topic summary
Issue: A merchant assigned a theme template to products, but in the theme customizer it reports no products are assigned.
What a theme template is: The layout/design file in a Shopify theme that determines how a product page displays.
Suggested causes and checks:
- Template–product type mismatch: Ensure the chosen template is compatible with the product type; heavy theme customizations may have altered how templates are applied.
- Per‑product overrides: On each product, check if an override template is set that supersedes the intended one.
- Product type settings: In Products > Product types, confirm custom types (if used) are linked to the correct template.
- Theme issues: Possible conflicts from multiple themes or significant edits; try disabling extra themes or reverting. After theme updates, template behavior may change—review theme docs or contact the theme developer.
Outcome/status: No confirmed fix yet; troubleshooting steps provided. Thread remains open.
Hi,
This is Richard at PageFly - Shopify Advanced Page Builder app.
There could be a few reasons why your products aren’t assigned to theme templates, even though you’ve selected one:
1. Theme Template Mismatch:
- Product Type: Double-check that the theme template you’ve selected is compatible with the product type of the products you’re trying to assign it to. If the theme template is specific to a particular product type (e.g., “Clothing,” “Digital Downloads”), it won’t apply to products of different types.
- Theme Customization: If you’ve made significant customizations to your theme, it’s possible that the theme template assignment mechanism has been altered. Review any changes you’ve made to your theme’s code, especially in areas related to product pages or templates.
2. Product Page Settings:
- Override Theme Template: Check the individual product page settings. There might be an option to override the theme template assigned to a specific product. If this option is enabled, the product will use the overridden template instead of the global theme template.
- Product Type Settings: If you’ve created custom product types, ensure that they’re associated with the correct theme template. Go to Products > Product types and edit the relevant product type. Look for a field related to the theme template and make sure it’s set to the desired template.
3. Theme Issues:
- Theme Conflicts: If you’re using multiple themes or have made significant modifications to your theme, there might be conflicts that are preventing the theme templates from being applied correctly. Try disabling any unnecessary themes or reverting to a previous version of your theme to see if the issue resolves.
- Theme Updates: If you’ve recently updated your theme, it’s possible that the theme template assignment functionality has changed. Check the theme’s documentation or contact the theme developer for assistance.
Hoping my solution helps you solve your problem.
