Issue: Determining accurate multi-country shipping rates for AliExpress dropshipping when DSers cannot transfer shipping methods/costs to Shopify due to Shopify’s unsupported interface and differing shipping options.
Key points:
Shipping costs vary by product, destination, and method; importing supplier rates isn’t reliable.
Manual setup in Shopify is required, reviewing AliExpress shipping costs per product and country.
Suggested approaches:
If DSers can export shipping methods to CSV, analyze the data and set store rates slightly (e.g., x%) above average costs.
Create regional shipping profiles (e.g., North America, Europe, South America) with representative rates based on your most popular products.
Start with reasonable estimates; for each order, compare the supplier’s actual shipping cost with what you charged, record in a spreadsheet, then iterate and adjust.
May I know how do dropshippers from AliExpress usually determine shipping prices for shipping to all countries? im using DSers. (Currently, DSers does not support transferring the shipping(method/cost) from AliExpress to your online store because Shopify does not support the data transmission interface for us and the shipping methods are different between Shopify and AliExpress.)
I have 100 dropship products from aliexpress. and having difficulty determining the appropriate shipping price with suppliers on aliexpress for shipping to various countries. can anyone help?
Hi,
Setting up the shipping rates isn’t a straightforward process of importing the supplier’s rates. This is because these rates typically fluctuate based on factors such as the specific product, destination, and chosen shipping method. As a result, you’ll need to invest some time and effort to manually configure and establish your shipping rates within the Shopify platform.
I would however suggest reviewing the shipping costs for each product and destination country to ensure you set the most accurate shipping rates.
I like what @FarioConsulting said. Adding to that, you said that DSers doesn’t support transferring shipping methods, but do they have a way to export shipping methods to a CSV?
That way you can at least see all the data, then set your shipping rate to something like x% above the average rate.
Another idea, if you’re not doing high volume, just put in an estimation, maybe create shipping profiles per region that has similar rates (North America, Europe, South America, etc), and set a reasonable rate based on what an actual supplier charges for your most popular product. Doesn’t have to be exact, on each new order, compare the shipping price vs what you charged the customer, put that in a spreadsheet, and analyze / adjust over time.
You’re not alone—this is one of the biggest friction points with AliExpress + DSers: the supplier’s shipping methods/costs are destination-dependent, but Shopify shipping is configured differently, so most merchants end up guessing, using averages, or overcharging to protect margin.
