Hi everyone I’m looking for some help. I am a candle maker and I have different size candles. When you come to my store I want people to be able to shop by a collection and see all the different sizes that I have to over in that particular scent, but I also want them to be able to shop by size. The reason why I choose Shopify is because it keeps and inventory count of your product. If I were to make multiple products of the different sizes it defeats the purpose for me using this platform. I already have one product set up with the multiple variants, my BFF candle is there a way I can add, lets say one of the variants is a 9oz candle to a collection of 9 oz candles, so they can see the description of the scent and it also pulls from the same inventory as if they were to go to the collection by scent and choose 9 oz candle?

I don’t want to search for it, I think you misunderstood what I’m trying to do. I already have a search option. What I want to do is have a product with multiple varients in my case different sizes for all my candle scents. On my main menu I want to be able to have a drop down that says shop by collection or shop by size. I already made all of the products under the collect with varients, I don’t want to make new products by size I want to take for instance a 5 oz variant and be able to put it under the shop by size collection but I don’t want to make a new product or else I’d have double inventory. I want to be able to pull from the same inventory count.
Let suppose you add under the collection, but what exactly logic for? you just want to show 5 oz variant you add collection description.
I have a suggestion to help you avoid double inventory using the Easify Product Options app. Here’s how it works:
- For the Shop by Size collection, create each size of a product as a separate item and add them to the relevant collection. For example, place “Sandalwood Candle 8oz” in the 8oz collection and “Sandalwood 9oz” in the 9oz collection.
- As for the Shop by Collection collection, create another product called “Sandalwood.” However, avoid creating Shopify variants (8oz, 9oz) for it to prevent duplication. Instead, use the Easify app to create size options. Then, link each size option within the app to your existing separate “Sandalwood Candle 8oz” and “Sandalwood Candle 9oz” options to synchronize inventory.
Storefront:
- Shop by Collection > Sandalwood Candle (all sizes)
- Shop by Size > 9oz > Sandalwood Candle 9oz:

There is no option in Shopify to maintain a collection-based Variant, there is one solution that we can use based on the variant titles but there may be some typo and string-related issues that may cause the wrong collection listing item if we do not maintain the variant titles properly.
As far as your concern is to make a list based on size which we can achieve by tags.
First, you have to add a respective tag to each product, here take example as Size is an option and we like to create a collection of 9 oz candles, then we have to add tags like Size_9oz: https://prnt.sc/H5C3RuZ9Y4HI

Actually this is the easiest way to do it. When you have the filter added you can sort the page by that filter and copy the URL. Then you can add those URL to the page navigation.
Reading through this thread, I think the core issue keeps getting lost in the replies, so let me restate it clearly for anyone else with the same need.
What @Cjrlyric wants is: one product in the admin (e.g., “BFF Candle” with variants 5oz, 8oz, 9oz), inventory tracked in one place, but the ability to have that 9oz variant appear in a “Shop by Size: 9oz” collection as its own card without creating a duplicate product.
Shopify doesn’t support this natively. Collections pull entire products, not individual variants. Filters and tags can narrow what’s visible, but they don’t let you build curated collections around specific variant values across different products.
Variantify was designed for exactly this scenario. You keep your single product with all size variants, your inventory stays unified, and the app handles which variants show up on which collection pages. So your “9oz Candles” collection would only display the 9oz variant from each product, as its own card with the right image.
You can show variants on collection page (or many page) with 3. party apps.
