Hey, building a store with Shopify is very easy, create an account, choose a theme and start selling!

About the domain, you can go to Cosmotown which is your registrar and from there transfer the domain by changing the DNS records to the ones that Shopify will provide you when you’ll create the store. You can find more information about connecting a domain here.

Of course if you have any questions the community is available for you, as well as the amazing Shopify Tutorial 2023.

Thank you for giving me your opinion. I also just learned about selling on Shopify. Have you used Shopify for a long time, can you tell me if selling on Shopify is effective? Currently I have 2 domains, mamaandminishirt.com and mamaandminisweatshirts.com. Should I now build both of these products into two Shopify stores? Or should I do 1 store on Shopify and 1 store in wp to compare the efficiency. Thanks you!

Hi @Vuhuy1992 ,

To build your store, Mama and Mini Sweatshirts, on Shopify you should follow seven steps. Here are the seven steps:

  1. The first step is to signup for a Shopify account and choose a pricing plan. You can signup for a Shopify account here. For pricing plan, I would recommend you to start with the Basic plan. It is perfect for individuals and small business who are just getting started. The Basic plan costs $1 per month for the first three months and after the first three months it costs $25 per month.

  2. The second step is to set goals for your Shopify store. You should focus on three key areas: how to engage visitors? how to convert visitors to customers? and how to retain customers? This is a key step as it influences the rest of the steps.

  3. The third step is to design your Shopify store. In this step you need to do two things:

• Firstly, you need to install a Shopify theme. Since Mama and Mini Sweatshirts is a clothing store I would recommend you try Shopify Dawn Theme. It is perfect for clothing store brands, full of features, reliable (built and maintained by Shopify), flexible, and most importantly its free. You can install this theme from your Shopify admin.

• Secondly, you should design your store in a way so that it helps to achieve your goals and it follows fundamental e-commerce design principles. These principles are too big to describe in a post but I will talk about one of them here. The principle is to build trust with your customers, which will help you to achieve your goal of converting visitors to customers. In order to build trust you have to add a contact us page with contact information such as email, phone, and mailing address, an about us page, policy pages such as returns, shipping, warranty, privacy, terms of service, and add certain sections is specific pages such as customer ratings and reviews section, media mentions section, returns and shipping sections in the homepage, collection pages, and product pages. You can produce these designs with design tools like Figma, but for starting out creating paper wireframes is fine.

  1. The fourth step is to develop your Shopify store. In this step you will actually start to build Mama and Mini Sweatshirts. To get started, go to Shopify admin and click the customize button. This will take you to the Shopify theme editor. You can use the theme editor to build your pages. Make sure to develop your store based on your designs.

  2. The fifth step is to configure your Shopify stores settings. There are a ton of settings to configure but I will go through some here: setup payment gateway, setup your domain, setup shipping etc.

  3. The sixth step is to test your Shopify store. You might be tempted to skip this step but don’t. Chances are you will find errors that you made in the development step. Testing will allow you to find these errors and fix them. There are many things to test but I will go through some here: test responsiveness, payment transactions, order fulfillments, etc.

  4. The seventh step is to launch your store to the public. If your store is password protected, make sure to remove the password. To do this go to Shopify admin > themes > remove password.

Following these steps will help you build a Shopify store for Mama and Mini Sweatshirts in a structured way. One key thing to remember is that this is not the end. Designing and developing a Shopify store is not a one and done thing. Rather, it is an iterative process. The real work beings after you launch your store. So after you launch your store, talk to your customers, learn about their problems and wants, and make changes to your store accordingly.

Hope that helped. If you have any further questions please do let me know.

Hi @Vuhuy1992 ,

• Shopify has a thriving theme and app marketplace. These themes and apps solves common problems that an ecommerce merchant faces.

• You can use Shopify in nearly every country in the world.

• Shopify supports multiple languages. The customer-facing parts of your Shopify store, including ecommerce website, blog, checkout, and emails can be in any language if the theme supports it. Q.2) “…Currently I have 2 domains, mamaandminishirt.com and mamaandminisweatshirts.com. Should I now build both of these products into two Shopify stores? Or should I do 1 store on Shopify and 1 store in wp to compare the efficiency?..”

A.2) If your goal is to achieve efficiency and effectiveness, I would suggest you migrate both stores, mamaandminishirt.com and mamaandminisweatshirts.com, off Wordpress and get them to Shopify. If you need assurance, see this list of companies who are successfully running on Shopify.

If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
