How do I centre text and pad out the sides of this liquid page description

I have entered {{Page-description}} as a liquid code between my opening image and the featured products. The text is right up against the left hand side. How can I do padding from the left, and maybe even centre the text on the page?

Can someone supply my with a code for CCS? Or is there an easier way?

Padded by 40px on each side.

Text centred.

In the liquid code section? It brings nothing to the page and appears blank.

In the CSS section it has errors.

Any other ideas?
