How do I manage inventory count for unique items across multiple sites?

My shop is one-of-kind inventory and when something sells that SKU is archived. I also have another website with identical items/SKU’s. When an item sells on one site I go to the other site and manually archive that SKU. It’s been working OK since I could easily view the total inventory count easily on each website. That simple feature of seeing total inventory count helped me catch my mistakes if I forgot to archive an item. However, during the last Shopify update, they removed the inventory count that was viewable under “settings/sales channel/online store”. I’ve contacted Shopify help multiple times but they misunderstand my situation and send me unrelated links.

Anyone else have this problem…anyone have a solution?

Hi

You could automate the process by using one of your stores as a primary store and sync inventory from it to the secondary store. The other data flow you would need to set up is to export orders from the secondary store to primary to ensure that stores stock levels are also updated.

The products wouldn’t be archived but would prevent you from overselling.
