How do I offer in-store pickup at 2 locations while pulling all inventory from one?

Topic summary

A merchant wants to offer free in-store pickup at two locations while maintaining all inventory at Location A (main store). Location B is a partner’s shop in a different city where pre-packaged orders are dropped off weekly during Sunday classes, then available for customer pickup Monday through the week.

Proposed Solutions:

  • Third-party app approach: Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery allows creating multiple pickup locations without tying inventory to each physical location.

  • Native Shopify setup:

    • Add both locations in Settings > Locations, keeping all inventory assigned to Location A
    • Enable Local Pickup for both locations under Settings > Shipping and Delivery
    • Customize pickup notifications for Location B to reflect the delayed availability (Monday onward)
    • Add checkout messaging explaining Location B’s weekly schedule
    • Test with sample orders to verify inventory pulls correctly

The discussion remains open with no confirmation from the original poster on which solution they’ll implement.

I want to offer 'in-store" pickup at 2 different locations. Location A, is my main store and hub for all business. All my inventory is here and it’s where I ship out and offer in-store pickup. Location A is in a moderately populated area.

However, Location B, is a pickup spot inside of a close friend’s shop (different business) in a highly populated area in a different city. We have weekly classes together Sunday night, and I give them packaged orders that I get from people who live close to their business from the weekend. From Monday, my customers can pickup during Location B’s operating hours throughout the week. It saves me on shipping and my customers are able to get their items really quick if they’d prefer to pick up. My friend and I do a lot of business together so they don’t mind this arrangement.

Now, how do I set this up on Shopify? I want to offer 2 free in store pick up locations while getting all the inventory from Location A. How do I offer in-store pickup at 2 locations while pulling all inventory from one?

Thanks in advance

Hi!
Our app Zapiet - Pickup + Delivery can help you achieve this. You can create multiple pickup locations for your customers to choose from in the cart, without the inventory of each location being tied to a specific real-world location.

Here’s how to set up 2 free in-store pickup locations on Shopify while pulling inventory from Location A:

  1. Set Up Locations

    • Add both Location A (main inventory hub) and Location B in Settings > Locations.
    • Keep all inventory assigned to Location A.
  2. Enable Local Pickup

    • Go to Settings > Shipping and Delivery.
    • Enable Local Pickup for both locations. Add clear pickup instructions (e.g., Location B orders available starting Monday).
  3. Customize Notifications

    • Edit the Ready for Pickup notification for Location B to include the delayed pickup timeline.
  4. Checkout Messaging

    • Add a note at checkout explaining Location B’s weekly availability.
  5. Test the Setup

    • Place test orders for both locations to ensure inventory pulls correctly and notifications work as intended.
