How do I permanently remove product tags?

When I started my page I was using product tags incorrectly, I never realized the customers see this list to search by online. I need to permanently remove some product tags that are basically nonsense to others who see them while shopping online. Can you please help me?

Hello,

To remove them completely from store you have to edit each product and remove that tag. Also there is an option ‘View all Tags’ click it too and remove all which you don’t want to use.

Hi

To permanently remove a tag from your admin, you’ll need to ensure that the tag is removed from any product that it’s currently applied to. Below are the steps on how to achieve this!

  1. Open up your products within the admin.

  2. Click on the small white box to select your products. Note: If you have more than 50+ products, then you’ll want to select (Select all 50+ products) that will appear to the right after you select the white box.

  3. Select “Actions.”

  4. Click on “Remove Tags.”

Ok it worked!! Once you deleted them from all the products they automatically no longer appeared in the “all tags” section as a choice!! WOOOOO HOOO! I cannot thank you enough

Hi there! I tried this but it seems like the tags are still there, is there any other way to do this?

I have followed the steps. It does not seem to save. I also exported all products, removed unwanted tags, and imported. This does not work either. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you!

Hi, there! Once tags are removed and you have saved your settings, they shouldn’t reappear. It sounds like you may need to clear your cache. You can double check from a different browser or device if possible, to determine whether the tags were removed. If they remain, please contact Shopify Support via the Help Center so we can investigate.

You must also remove the tag from any collections you have set up with that tag as a Collection Type Condition. Once you have removed any kind of reference to the undesired tag, only then will it stop showing up in your tag list.
