Hello,
I am using Semrush and its showing “1 keywords assigned to the current page produce higher rankings for other pages” You may try to optimize these higher ranking pages for the given keywords instead. When I checked the URL, I found that its the same URL with page 2 added in the URL, How do I fix this issue?
Original URL: https://www.equipmentguys.ca/collections/husqvarna-grass-trimmers
URL with Page 2" https://www.equipmentguys.ca/collections/husqvarna-grass-trimmers?page=2&grid_list=grid-view
It would be great if anyone can help me with this situation.
Thanks

Hello @EquipmentGuys ,
Greetings from flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $6Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot! I am Gina, and I am here to help.
The issue you are experiencing with SEMrush is related to having multiple pages of the same collection on your Shopify store. Shopify automatically generates multiple pages for collections that contain a large number of products, which can lead to duplicate content issues and confuse search engines. To fix this issue, you can try one of the following solutions.
-
Consolidate your collection pages
Instead of having multiple pages for the same collection, consider consolidating them into a single page that displays all of the products in the collection. You can do this by adjusting your Shopify settings to display more products per page, or by using a pagination app to combine your pages into a single page.
-
Use canonical tags
If you prefer to keep your multiple collection pages, you can use canonical tags to tell search engines which page is the preferred version. In your case, you would add a canonical tag to the page 2 URL that points to the original URL without the page 2 parameter. This will help to consolidate the ranking signals of your collection pages and prevent them from competing with each other.
To add a canonical tag to your Shopify collection pages, you can follow these steps.
-
Go to your Shopify admin and navigate to Online Store > Themes.
-
Click on the Actions dropdown menu and select Edit code.
-
In the left-hand sidebar, click on the Templates folder and then select collection.liquid.
-
Scroll down to the bottom of the code and add the following line:
- Save your changes and repeat this process for any other collection templates that you are using on your store.
By implementing one of these solutions, you can help to consolidate your collection pages and improve your search engine rankings.
