How do I release a domain name from an inactive store?

My domain name might still be connected to an inactive shopify store. I need it to be released/removed from there so that I can connect my domain to my current store.

The same way you have connected to the first store is the same way you will connect that same domain to your new store

There is 1 error:

A site with that domain name already exists

Okay if that persists, we will need to reset the connection,

Erasing the first set up in order to make the second integration.

Welcome to the Shopify Community and thanks for joining the thread. Sorry to hear you’ve been experiencing issues trying to contact our Support team. Are you trying to connect your domain to a different Shopify store, or to a new third party platform?

If this is the case, and the domain is currently sitting on a closed / inactive store, and the domain managed by Shopify, you’ll need to reach out Support team as I mentioned. When you follow the link I provided, login to your old store, and follow the prompts provided, what happens next? Any screenshots of where you are getting stuck are helpful for understanding.

Shopify has a script or automated process that removes your purchased domain when you dont pay for your store and puts it in some inaccessible cache. You guys are crooks, I just paid $29 to try and find where my domain is by having to log back into shopify.
