How do I remove auto select of Variant on product

HI

Please help. I am looking to remove the auto variant selection from my theme. When a customer selects a product i don’t want a variant to already be selected - as below, the size and backing are auto selected when they click on the product. I have images linked to the size variants that i dont want to be the main product image.

To reorder the variants in Shopify, follow these steps:

  1. Choose the variant you want customers to select the most: Position it at the top of the variant list. This way, it will be the default option shown to customers when they visit the product page.
    You can reorder the variants by dragging them in the Shopify admin panel under the “Variants” section on the product page. Refer to this screenshot:

  2. Ensure a variant is always selected: When customers visit the product page, at least one variant must be selected. If no variant is selected by the customer, you must set a default variant. Without a default, the “Add to Cart” button will cause an error.

Thanks for this, however I am not looking to reorder the variants…? I am looking to remove the auto selection of a variant.
