How do I remove shopify payments as a payment method?

We are unable to use shopify payments for payment processing because we are selling a restricted product.

How do I remove this as an option at check out?

Hi @PaulK123

Thanks for reaching out here, that is a great question.

If you have enabled Shopify Payments, and wish to disable it then you can do this from the payment settings in your Shopify admin. You will also have the option to switch to a different third-party provider. The steps to do so are as follows:

  • From your Shopify admin navigate to Settings > Payments.
  • In the Shopify Payments section click Manage.
  • Scroll to the very bottom of this page and you will see an option to Deactivate Shopify Payments or Switch to a third-party provider. Feel free to select the option that suits you best.

Once Shopify Payments has been disabled, customers will not see it as an option in the checkout. Bear in mind, if you are selling restricted products, other third-party payment gateways may have their own rules & requirements that you must adhere to. Do you already know what payment gateway you will use? The gateways available to you will vary based on the location of your store, but you can use this website here to select your location and check which ones you can use.

Hi Rick,

I did all this and connected to Quickbooks Payments, and twice it was removed without notifying me. Then I chose Bankful on the list, started the process, only to go back four days later and it’s removed. What good is Shopify if I can’t accept payments on my website?
