How do I sent an order update email to non-subscribers?

Hi, I want to send an update to customers that have pre-ordered. I created a customer segment, but it only includes customers who are subscribed. Since I’m sending an order update, and not marketing, it shouldn’t remove non-subscribers. Is there a way to email them all at once?

What segment definition/filters are you using?

It looks like I’m able to create one for customers who haven’t subscribed (see screenshot), so you should be able to target customers for both.

Yes, but when using the segment to create an email in Shopify Email it automatically remove non-subscribers because of spam/privacy regaring marketing emails. But I’m sending a transactional email.

Yeah, was hoping to not have to use another service, especially one that requires a subscription. Kinda crazy that Shopify doesn’t offer a way to communicate to customers about their orders.

Yeah you might need to use a third-party service like Klaviyo and export your customers list there. Otherwise there might be Shopify-specific apps which can handle this for you.

The pre-order app I built almost has something similar to this, but not quite what you’re trying to do (ours can email all pre-order customers when a delay occurs, but it’s not intended for general order updates).

Also depending on the amount of emails to send, you could potentially email them directly yourself?
