the website is also on Shopify
Can anyone tell me if these a re Apps or simple codes - or is it a development all together

I am afraid that this functionality does not come in any third-party app. It either comes with the theme or you have to create it manually manually it is easy to create but not for the bigger that you need to hire an expert who can customize the liquid code and make each product work exactly like that.
