I’m trying to edit products within the Craft theme and can’t seem to see where you add text to the ‘Materials’, ‘Dimensions’ and ‘Care Instructions’ sections!
Hi,
I’ve tried this, however when I put information in each of these sections for each product, its changing it for all products instead of the specific product I am editing, what am I doing wrong? ![]()
Thanks
Hi Alison,
The same thing happened for me - luckily my care instructions apply to all my products. I’ve had to work around and add generic info to the materials and I’ve hidden the dimension section. I’ve added the dimensions in the product description.
Hope thats helpful - good luck with your store!
Any luck solving this issue?! I’m having the same problem! Each of my products is changing when I enter specs. What am I doing wrong??
Did anyone have any luck fixing this problem with the changes happening to all products??
Hi @notquitecrone ,
You can create a question on the community and send me the link. I will check it.
Because this will help build a better community.
Thank you.
Hi!
Yes, I managed to figure it out. You have to create metafields for your products and like it to the default product template.
Then it pulls through to each of your products at the bottom and you enter your specific details for each product listing.
Hope this helps. ![]()
The best solution I could find was to create new templates for each group, e.g. I am looking at a jewellery website so a template for Rings with Ring Sizes and a template for Necklaces with chain sizes etc
Could you screen shot an example of how you created a meta field definition. I am somewhat confused as to what specific info to put into the new definition. Also how to you “like” it to the product template?
- On your store dashboard search for “metafields”
-
create new metafield “Materials”
-
field will show up on your product detail admin page
- On your Customize screen, associate this metafield to the slot you want in your template.
Hope it helps, this was the solution that best suited my needs as my products are made of different materials.
Thank you so much
This solution worked for me, altho for some reason, when I created a metafield with type “URL”, it was not available to associate with the theme’s slot shown above. I believe only field types that match the criteria “text” will be available on that specific part of the template.
I was having the same issue, here what worked for me
go to store/themes/actions/edit codes/customize theme/
“top page dropdown” change from home page to products/default product.
hope this can help some one!
Hi so I do see this as helpful but when you update the information there it automatically adds it to
every single product even tho not all of them are the same materials. How do you fix that?
In case anyone else comes here first for a solution and is confused like me, I am attaching the whole explanation including the second part of the solution that you will need to know to make this all work. Yes, you will need to create a metafield as explained above, but that will not simply connect it to the existing Materials/Care Instructions/Dimensions sections. Here is the entire explanation I found on another post (https://community.shopify.com/post/1645755 ![]()
In order to add different Dimensions, Materials and Care Instructions for each product, you first need to create metafield and then connect it with your theme setting to display metafield on your product pages:
- Create Metafield by going to Setting > Metafields > Products > Add definition > fill out the required info.
- Go to Products > Within each product page, scroll down to the bottom and you’ll see the metafield you’ve created before, then fill out the specific content for each.
- Navigate to Online Store > Theme > Customize
- Select Products then Default Product from the page selector at the top
- Within the sidebar menu, click on the Materials section > Row content > click on the Insert Dynamic Source as the photo attached below > Select the associated metafiled
- Finally, hit Save
- Do the same with Dimensions
- For Care Instructions, if it’s the same for all products, simply enter the content directly in the Row Content.
Hi I cannot see the product section at all when I go into customize?
I’m having the same issue. I changed the material to “bamboo” and now it has changed all the products on my website to bamboo instead of just the individual item. I don’t see a solution yet.
I am having this exact same issue - it’s driving me nuts - cause it changes everything!!! Trying to search where I can find the solution! All the products are not the same and do not have the same materials/ingredients!
