How do you know if your money on GEO is paid off?

Realizing the traffic from ChatGPT is embarrassingly low like less 0.1%. Does optimizing for ChatGPT really make sense? Anyone has good traffic coming from it?

I have being doing GEO for my company from past 10 months, trust me I see people visiting my website via chatgpt/perplexicity etc, because we track website data. Do not fall for any other AI visibility tracker. The website tracking via LLMs is the only authentic data, and see out of all the traffic how much is driving to your website. And do some efforts on reddit/linkeidn/3rd party mentions/customer reviews/listings and see if that increases.

All the trackers/tools are running queries on these LLMs and then show you before and after of the ranking which is absolute rubbish. Because there is a lot of history/personalized data that goes into when a person seraches for a particular problem/product. And when same thing just a random automated source run queries on LLMs. Its not worth it trust me.

Track what you have (website) and can acheck for citations on ahrefs and semrush etc at max

Hey @jessiejia11,

ChatGPT traffic is still relatively new for most stores, so seeing low numbers is normal. However, optimizing for ChatGPT can still make sense because it improves your overall content quality and increases visibility as AI search evolves. It may not bring high traffic today, but it positions your store better for the future.

ChatGPT is primarily used as a Question and Answer tool or a Task performing tool. Shopping queries are still done on traditional search engines

hi there ~

Sophia from Tapita AI SEO & Speed Optimizer here :waving_hand:

If you judge GEO by traffic alone, it will look like it “doesn’t work.” That’s normal.

ChatGPT is mostly a zero-click environment → because user’s searching behaviour is mostly informational not transactional intent → users get answers without visiting sites

0.1% referral traffic is common, even for strong brands.

So low traffic ≠ GEO failure.

Instead of clicks, look at:

  • Brand mentions in AI answers: Are you being cited or named when users ask buying/research questions?
  • Impression lift in Search (GSC): Many stores see impressions rise before clicks (AI influences discovery).
  • Assisted conversions: Users discover you in AI → search brand name later → convert.
  • Query quality: AI-driven users tend to be lower volume but higher intent.

Does optimizing for ChatGPT make sense? Yes, as a layer on top of SEO, not a separate channel.

GEO isn’t a traffic channel. It’s a discovery and trust channel. If your brand is showing up in AI answers and branded searches are growing, it’s working.

I noticed that some people get confused when trying to confirm if their money on GEO is fully paid off. I wanted to share a simple step-by-step guide that has helped me and might help you too:
Log in to your GEO account – Your balance should reflect any completed payments. If the amount you owed is gone or shows zero, that’s the first sign it’s paid off.
Check your transaction history – Look for your specific payment. GEO usually marks transactions as “Paid”, “Completed”, or “Settled.”
Look for confirmation emails or receipts
– GEO often sends an email once a payment goes through. Saving this is useful for future reference.
Check pending transactions – Sometimes payments take a few business days to clear, so make sure there’s nothing still “processing.”
Contact GEO support if unsure – If you’re still not certain, reach out to GEO with your transaction details. They can confirm whether your payment is fully processed.

Pro tip: Always keep a screenshot or copy of your receipts. This makes it much easier to resolve any issues if a payment doesn’t appear immediately.

I hope this helps anyone who’s unsure about their GEO payments! If you have any other tips or methods, feel free to share them too.
