How do you manage adding stock when using multiple inventory?

Topic summary

Managing per-location stock increases with multiple inventory locations in Shopify. A merchant maintains three locations: Front of the Store, Behind the store (1st Staging), and Off-site Storage.

From the inventory lookup, opening a product page allows adding +1 to inventory, but the interface does not indicate which location receives the increase. The merchant cannot target a specific location when incrementing stock from that screen.

They are seeking a workflow or setting to specify the location for adjustments (or an alternative method to add stock per location). A screenshot of the product inventory UI is provided and is central to the issue.

No answers or workarounds have been provided yet; the question remains unresolved.

Hi
I’ve 3 different inventory sections:

  • Front of the Store
  • Behind the store (1st Staging)
  • Off site the Storage

We are adding +1 to an item by looking up from the inventory, it will open the product page, we can then add +1 to inventory level; however, it doesn’t specify where the +1 stock is increasing for one of three inventory locations

What’s “inventory sections”?
They look like saved views – then it depends on how they are defined…

But do you have multiple locations?

When I go “Products”-> product and then click into particular variant I see it like this and there I have 2 my locations represented so there is no ambiguity

When I go to “Products”-> “Inventory” I have a Location selector at the top of the page and no ambiguity as well:

Do you have full permissions on products and inventory?

Thanks, Tim, for getting back to me.

One more thing:
If a customer purchases an item with the barcode scanned, which inventory does the -1 stock level deduct from?
