How do you really feel about Shopify and AI?

Hey all,

how are you actually feeling about all this Shopify and AI stuff lately?

Like for real.

Honestly, mixed. AI is useful for speeding up boring work, but I would not let it run the store unchecked.

  • Use it for first drafts of product descriptions, emails, FAQs, and support replies. Then edit for accuracy and your actual brand voice.
  • Check every factual claim, especially materials, sizing, shipping times, and return rules. AI confidently makes things up.
  • Start with one repetitive task this week and track time saved for 7 days. If it does not save at least 15 to 20 minutes per session, drop it.
  • Keep customer data, private order details, and unreleased product info out of public AI tools.

Shopify adding AI everywhere is fine, but I treat it like a fast junior assistant, not a decision-maker.

Hi there @Nemanja_Janjic
I believe it only serves a purpose when focusing on practical applications and issues, rather than adding a further level of complexity to the mix. The key for merchants is they still own their store, their customer data, their content, and their business decisions. I’m more interested in how these tools might cut down on the repetitive labor and make the customer experience better without removing that control. Absolutely there’s a learning curve, but I consider it just another tool a merchant can opt to use when it makes sense to them.
