How Do You Track Product Inventory Itself And Not Its Variant? Say I need to sell 2 prints that would be pressed on apparel. I need inventory to show 2 but the customer can pick sizes, colors and apparel options (t-shirt, sweatshirt, etc…) and also allow a fee for certain options. What app can do this? Thank you, Jayme

This is a classic case when you can have the options as line item properties instead of variants.

Some apps make it easier to do that, although you can also code it yourself if you know how to:

Thank you for responding:) I did try variant options app but couldn’t figure it out so coding wasn’t an option for me either unfortunately. I went with the app Globo product options, variants. It was easy for me to figure out in about an hour and its free. It does exactly what I need to to do:)

The “Free” option is $12.99/month :disappointed_face: If it was free id swath to Shopify but now Im going back to BC because I don’t need extra apps to figure all this out.

This isn’t a great option when you need any of the variants to increase the price, since line item properties doesn’t effect prices. I might need someone to choose yes or no for engraving, where engraving ads $20, but I will still only have a set number of items to engrave.

You have a couple of options for handling your issue:

  1. Use a product options app to create product options that go beyond your main product. This way, you can set the main product quantity to 2 as needed, and the options (with various variants) won’t affect your inventory.

  2. Use the Easify Inventory Sync app, which allows you to create an inventory group for all your product variants and set their shared inventory to 2. The app will sync inventory every time a variant is purchased, ensuring accurate inventory management.

The second option might be simpler and more effective, as it lets you maintain the original products with their color and variant options (including different prices for each variant).
