How does international bank deposit work as a payment method?

Hi there! I just started out on Shopify and I seem to love it. However I noticed that Shopify Payments isn’t available in my country (Pakistan) and neither is PayPal. I tried to search for a payment gateway and the only payment gateway available is 2Checkout which is not approving my account for no valid reason. I wanted to ask about the Manual Payment methods specifically Bank Deposit. What is Bank Deposit? Does it work internationally? What information do I need to provide for Bank Deposit? Is it secure? In how many days is money transferred through bank deposit? Does having the Bank Deposit Payment option effect my chances of getting sales? Any sort of help would be appreciated in this regard as I have spent a lot of time designing my store.

Thanks in advance!

@PageFly-Victor Thanks a lot for the response! But I still don’t quite understand. Does Bank Deposit work internationally? What information do I need to provide for Bank Deposit? Is it secure? Hi @Abdurrehman1 !

These are some great questions, thanks for posting them here!

First things first, have you checked our link here for alternative payment gateways in your region? I thought I would share it here in case you missed it.

A bank deposit allows customers to make payments via their online banking/bank, without the need for a use of a credit card. In most cases they work internationally, however it would be best to check with your bank/provider first. I would say it is always a good option to offer your customers, however having more than one payment method to offer is always better for increasing the chances of more sales.

In regard to what information you would need to provide for your customers to pay via bank deposit – check with your bank or provider to find out exactly what a customer must do to complete the payment. You will also need to ask your bank what instructions are needed on the payment page too. They will also be able to advise you on how long the transfer of funds should take, every bank is different, so they will be able to advise you how long you will need to wait to retrieve the funds. That is something we would not be privy to with your bank. By the way, we also have a great help doc which explores manual payment methods and how to set those up, just click here.
