How does Shopify get away with charging fees on a cancelled transation?

Client tried purchasing three times and all three were immediately cancelled, and marked cancelled on their orders. Meanwhile even after chatting with Shopify suppprt to ensure the client would not be charged and the funds would not be released to me, today they were and they’re taking 241 dollars in fees?!!?!!? Are they joking! Meanwhile I’m going in circles with support regarding this and how I chatted with them twice the very next day! Followed their instructions and was assured. What a scam
