How Does Shopify Handle Stores Selling Products Subject to FDA Public Health Warnings?
I am seeking clarification from Shopify staff and the broader merchant community regarding Shopify’s policies for stores selling products that have been the subject of public health warnings issued by government regulators.
The stores I am referring to currently include:
- tryhoneypacksblack dot com
- tryhoneypacksgold dot com
- blackbullhoney dot com
- blackthaihoney dot com
These websites market products commonly referred to as:
- Black Thai Honey
- Honey Packs
- Honey Packs Gold
- Black Bull Honey
The FDA has issued a public health warning regarding Black Thai Honey products, stating that they contain undeclared prescription drug ingredients, including sildenafil and tadalafil, while being marketed as dietary supplements.

My questions for Shopify and the community are:
- How does Shopify evaluate reports involving products that have been publicly flagged by the FDA?
- Does Shopify proactively review stores selling products named in FDA warnings?
- What factors determine whether a merchant is permitted to continue operating after such concerns are raised?
- What role do Shopify’s Trust & Safety, Risk, Legal, and Compliance teams play in reviewing these matters?
- How are repeat reports handled when the same products continue to be marketed across multiple storefronts or domains?
This is not a customer-service complaint or refund request. Rather, I am seeking a discussion regarding merchant compliance, consumer protection, platform safety, and Shopify’s approach to products that have been identified in public regulatory warnings.
I would appreciate input from Shopify staff, experienced merchants, and anyone familiar with Shopify’s compliance-review process.
Thank you.
