I have transferred domain of my online store from Hostinger to Shopify. However, the set up is still showing as in progress and my store isn’t live. How much time does it take to get the domain transferred to shopify and in the meanwhile, can i do something to go-live my online store?
The time it takes to transfer a domain to Shopify can vary depending on the domain registrar and the DNS settings. In general, domain transfers can take up to 7 days to complete, but they are often completed within a few hours.
While you’re waiting for the domain transfer to complete, there are a few things you can do to get your online store up and running. First, you can use the temporary Shopify domain (e.g., yourstorename.myshopify.com) to access your store and start setting things up. You can configure your store settings, add products, create collections, and customize your theme.
If you’ve already set up a custom domain on Shopify, you can use a domain preview link to access your store while the domain transfer is in progress. To access your store using the domain preview link, simply replace your custom domain with your store’s Shopify subdomain in the following format:
https://yourstorename.myshopify.com/?preview_theme_id=1234567890
Replace “yourstorename” with your Shopify subdomain and “1234567890” with the theme ID of your active theme. You can find the theme ID by going to “Online Store” in your Shopify admin, clicking “Actions” next to your active theme, and selecting “Edit code”. The theme ID will be in the URL of the code editor.
Once the domain transfer is complete, your custom domain will be automatically connected to your Shopify store. If you’re still having issues with the domain transfer, you may want to reach out to Shopify support for assistance.

To avoid interruption in service, you need to connect your domain to Shopify. If you don’t connect your domain before you transfer it, visitors might experience connection errors during the transfer process. Changes to a domain can take up to 48 hours to complete. Can you confirm if the connection process was completed before you began the transfer?
It can take up to 20 days for your domain to be transferred. After it’s transferred, you receive a confirmation email from Shopify. You can access your domain settings on the Domains page from your Shopify admin. If the domain transfer isn’t successful, then you’re refunded the 1-year renewal charge.
