My Shopify payment have been put on hold until I change wording on my web site regarding pet supplements that I sell. The alternative is to switch to another credit card processor such as Authorize.net.
I can change the wording but wonder how long it will take for Shopify to take action and release the hold. Alternatively, I can use Authroize.net but am wondering what others experiences with that and the release of the “hold” will be. Also, does that truly solve the problem or will it then be something else?
I, of course, want to be in compliance. It seems like it would have been more fair to allow me to resolve the problem before putting the hold on my account.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks so much.
Hello, @K9meds !
I understand that this is frustrating.
I would personally recommend that you go ahead and make the changes to the wording on the supplement, then contact us again either through this link here, or, if we were in touch with you on emails about this issue, reply directly to our last email to let us know that you did make this change. That way, we will be able to have it looked into for you ASAP.
The reason I recommend making the change before adding a new gateway is because often when something goes against the Shopify Payments TOS, it may have a similar issue if you go to use other gateways.
If you implement a new gateway, and it is revoked due to the same issue, this can be quite inconvenient for you and for customers that would like to check out on your store.
You mentioned that you’re selling pet supplements - are pets the main focus of your store? I have a link to some articles on successful pet stores on the platform - for some inspiration and tips for your own business!

Thanks for your reply, Lana. I have removed the wording Shopify identified and let them know. Hopefully, the hold will be released soon.
