How long store in a database when it's "inactive"?

Topic summary

Topic: Retention of data for frozen/inactive Shopify stores and whether charges accrue while inactive.

  • A responder notes a risk of data loss if a store is reactivated more than 2 years after becoming inactive. A community link is provided for details.
  • The original poster expects to reactivate within 1–2 months and assumes this timeframe is safe. No one disputed this.

Billing status while inactive:

  • The poster asks if charges apply during inactivity unless switching to a “pause and billing” plan or making changes.
  • No definitive billing answer was given; the responder directs them to Shopify Support for exact plan and billing details.

  • Billing question remains unresolved in-thread and was escalated to official support.
  • Discussion remains open with a key unanswered question about charges during the inactive period.

Hi,

I have 2 frozen stores right now, how long they will be in the database before deleting and will I need to be paying later for the time their not active with the same per month price as they were active?

Big Thanks

Hi @Huptech-Web

Thanks, I guess I’m good in regards of time frame, which only 1-2 months.

And also, as I understand, you are not charging at this time, until you want to make any modifications and switched to pause and billing plan or smth else?

Thanks

Kody

Hi Risihuptech, could you please elaborate on my second question up above.
