Categorization , or assigning collections, is typically done by product type.
Products in shopify can be in multiple collections(categories) so not really in reports.
Being able make everything be available in everything isn’t a world we live in.
Just to clarify with a custom report you should be able to use a product type filter
Product type is customization.
You should also be able to add the product.type to the columns
In shopify plus use a QL notebook.
With excel-fu or hiring an excel expert you’d map&group into categories based on sku.
If you are responsible for reports learning vlookup, etc in excel is a very good skill investment .
If using other third party data export tools other grouping options are tags , or cart attributes containing specific categorization info inside the order. Apps like ez-exporter, or matrixify.
Or if you have a strict sku convention that isn’t ambiguous about what category an item belongs in you could report by Variant SKU, but if it was strict that could also be used in excel.
I.e. Variant SKU contains car would be ambiguous if there’s skus that have “cargo” in them.
There’s also apps like report toaster, or automation apps like usemechanic to do more specific data reporting and automation.
