How many times a digital file was downloaded?

Hi!

I sell digital files, and I use the App Digital Downloads, Is there any way to know how many times a customer downloaded the file?

Context: I have a pending chargeback from a customer and the excuse was that they didn’t receive the product. The customer reached to me previously, requesting a refund because the product is not working for her. I explained the refund policy which states no refunds exchanges for digital products (this is stated in the store too). However, today I received an email from shopify that will issued a refund plus a chargeback!

I will appreciate any help!

Sorry to hear about your chargeback situation. As far as the digital downloads app goes, you can see how many times a digital product has been downloaded in total, along with total sales. But not total downloads per customer.

With that said, you can set a maximum number of times a customer can download their digital file. Admin > Apps > Digital Downloads > Select the digital product > select fulfillment > adjust the download limit setting.

Solution suggested by @Dirk should work, however if you still want to record the number of download.

We can create a custom app which will store the data for every download button clicked.
