Hi,
I probably didn’t explain myself correctly ![]()
As far as I know, stripe is available to “only” accept credit card payments in countries where Shopify payments isn’t available.
To active other payment options like ideal or bancontact you will have to activate through additional payment options, having a second payment provider.
It is not possible to make changes on the payment gateway connections, this would need to be requested and approved by Shopify/stripe
Topic summary
A Belgian merchant seeks to enable iDEAL and Bancontact payment methods through Stripe on their Shopify store, as these are essential for customers in Belgium and the Netherlands. Despite activating these methods in Stripe’s dashboard, they don’t appear in Shopify’s payment settings—only card payments and Apple Pay are visible.
Core Issue:
- Stripe supports iDEAL and Bancontact, but Shopify’s native integration doesn’t expose these options without custom implementation
- The merchant wants to avoid using multiple payment providers like Mollie
- Stripe documentation suggests using “sources” API, which appears to require coding
Community Response:
- User N_Abey offers custom integration services via direct email, responding to 20+ merchants with the same problem
- Alternative suggestions include using Paysera or other payment gateways
- Multiple users share YouTube tutorial links for workarounds
Resolution:
- The original poster later confirms (post #152) that Shopify Payments now offers iDEAL and Bancontact natively, eliminating the need for custom solutions
- This update suggests the issue has been resolved through Shopify’s platform evolution, though availability may depend on merchant location and Shopify Payments eligibility
