Recently I tried to add discounts for specific payment methods in shopify. This is specifically helpful in Brazil as the ‘Pix’ methods is much more attractive to customers, so I wanted to enable 10% off when paying with pix. However, after searching online I learnt that with the debut theme this is not possible, so what I plan on doing is adding a cashback of 10% of the order as a form of discount. Therefore, I wanted to set up a customized massage when a customer selected the ‘pix’ payment method in my checkout section.
Unfortunately, Checkout modifications can be done only on Shopify Plus plans.
If that’s not your case you cannot change anything in the standard Shopify checkout and you need to think of an alterative placement to show your cashback promotion.
How would you do this if you are on Shopify Plus? It looks like Shopify is not giving access to checkout.liquid but recommending checkout extensions. Could you only do this through a checkout app?
Checkout.liquid customization will be deprecated in August 2024. BTW until that moment, you are entitled to contact Shopify Plus support and ask to enable the checkout.liquid customization explaining the reasons.
I haven’t spent enough time yet with new Checkout Functions or other Checkout apps to give you a more detailed answer. You may want to check the Checkout Blocks app that is promising or contact the developers to ask if they support your use case:https://apps.shopify.com/checkout-blocks

Hi,
Now in 2023, it is possible to implement this using our free app Payment Customizations: PayMix.
You can setup a rule in PayMix to “Show specific payment methods and hide others” when the cart contains discount.
Here is a small video to see how the end effect would look like:
We also have in-app live chat support available inside the app to help you with any queries that you might have.
