How to add a two-column area with text and counter on a homepage?

Hi,

I am new to Shopify, and trying to add a two column area to the homepage with text one side and a counter on the other.

I am using the Dawn theme, and the app that I am trying to use is sales countup.
I have a short code for the app, though I can not get it to show up correctly unless I implement the complete add section / app which is full page.

Any ideas would be great.
