Hello! I have a dog barkery where everything is baked fresh. The goal is for people to buy their dog cakes at least 2 weeks or more before the event. However the cakes have a short shelf life since they are made without preservatives.
I want to include a spot on the checkout page (or somewhere) where people can type in what the event date is so I can bake accordingly.
If you prefer a native solution, you can utilize the order notes on your cart page to have customers inform you about their event date. If you weren’t aware, there’s a text box on the cart page that you can enable in your theme so customers can leave notes about their orders. They can use this text box to type in the date and the date will appear within the order page when they place their order.
You can refer to this guide to enable order notes in your theme. After doing so, I recommend editing your order notes label so you can let customers know this is where they can enter the event date. You can find the steps for editing the label on this page.
Enabling order notes is a feasible solution, however, it’s not as intuitive as adding a calendar to your cart page and having customers select their event date. If you wish to make the order process easier and more straightforward for your customers, you can consider using an app in your store. This app, Delivery ‑ Pickeasy, does a great job in not only adding a calendar to your cart page but also blocking off dates, setting cut-off dates, limiting the number of orders you accept per day, and many other features. It won’t just help improve the customer experience in your store, but it will also automate and reduce your administrative tasks. Feel free to give it a go!
