It is not preview, it redirect to link image page.

In order to add a close button in the image on your preview section , you will need to modify the code.

Find the relevant section in the files from your theme, add close button HTML, give it styles with CSS and also use JS to handle the click event.

If you are not familiar with this, consider hiring a Shopify developer who will help you.
