how to add columns in megamenu

Hi I have dawn theme but in header section I cannot add multiple columns to megamenu. I watched videos in them all they had column option in the dawn theme itself but I cannot find for my store. any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you europeankidstoys.com

If you’re using the Dawn theme and don’t see the option to add multiple columns in the mega menu under the header section, it is likely because the built in column layout only appears when your menu structure is correctly set up in navigation. To trigger the multi column layout, make sure your main menu item the one you’re turning into a mega menu has multiple sub-menu items, and each of those sub-menu items has their own items, this creates the columns. If set up properly, Dawn will automatically format it into a mega menu. If it’s still not working, then your theme version may be outdated—update to the latest Dawn version or consider using a Shopify app or custom code for advanced layouts.

Hi, you can try this step-by-step:

  • Go to Navigation: In your Shopify Admin, navigate to Online Store > Navigation.

  • Select Your Main Menu: Choose the menu that you are using in your store’s header.

  • Create the Right Structure: To trigger the multi-column layout for a specific menu item, you need a three-level structure:

    • Level 1: The main link you want to trigger the mega menu.
    • Level 2: The sub-menu items directly under Level 1. These will become the titles of your columns in the mega menu. You need at least two of these Level 2 items to get multiple columns.
    • Level 3: The sub-menu items under each Level 2 item. These will become the links within each column.

  • Save Your Menu.

  • Check in Theme Editor: Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize. Select the Header section. Ensure your main menu is selected. When you hover over the Level 1 item in the preview, Dawn should automatically detect the three-level structure and display it as a mega menu with columns based on your Level 2 items.
