I am at the starting point to create a Non Profit SIte with Shopify, maybe you ask why Shopify?

Well because it is easier to use and the analytics are so great.

My question is: Can I add a permanent side bar with a menu on shopify?

You can create a side bar like the demo, but in this case you need to change a lot of code in your theme code.
