has anyone managed to do this or know how to change a theme label for SALE to show percentage where there is no option in settings?

This is indeed doable but would require a more custom coding approach to have this running under the theme. Can you share some more visual screenshots so we can check this out?

this is not my shop as its private at the moment but its using the same theme.. where it says sale in the products list template
