How to apply customer percentage discount to all items in cart with minimum spend?

I want to give my customers 15% off if they spend more than $400. To do this, I tried Discounts–>Buy X get Y and selected Customer Spends: Minimum purchase amount: $400, but then there is a required field “Customer gets:
Customers must add the quantity of items specified below to their cart.” If I select 1 item, the customer will only get the 15% off the least expensive item in their cart, and I want them to get 15% off all items. If I select more than one item, and the customer does not have exactly that many items that I selected in their cart, the discount will not apply. Is this a bug or how do I accomplish allowing the customer to get 15% off everything with any Qty items in their cart as long as they have a minimum total spend of $400? Thank you in advance!

Hi Liz,

Are you trying to have the discount apply automatically to orders over $400?

Or do you want your customers to have to type in a discount code manually?

Please let me know which, and I’ll be able to help you find a solution.

I would like the customer to enter a given discount code to access the Buy X get Y type discount.
